HEATING AND RENEWABLES INSTALLERS INVITED TO JOIN GAIN

The demand for heating and renewables installers offering both quality installations and service is growing all the time. This situation is likely to increase now that the Green Deal, Energy Company Obligation and other funding initiatives are well underway.

The Grant Aided Heating Installers Network (GAIN) is inviting heating and renewables installers to join the association to provide a stronger voice to advance the working partnership with Government and funding providers.

The Grant Aided Heating Installers Network is at The Bothy, Albury Park, Albury, Guildford, Surrey GU5 9BH; e-mail: info@gainassociation.org.uk; www.gainassociation.org.uk.

Green deal funding for heating and renewables

With Green Deal (GD) now underway, installers of approved heating and renewables measures can now access this funding pot. The Government’s ‘flagship’ scheme provides upfront finance to consumers to eliminate the funding barrier to bring homes and businesses up to a greater standard of energy efficiency.

Where housing is occupied by those with low incomes who may not heat their homes adequately, a parallel scheme, the Energy Company Obligation, is available to provide the funding to pay for insulation and/or renewable measures.

Installers undertaking heating and renewables installations, including solar, ground and air source heat pumps, biomass, and micro-combined heat and power (CHP) should be registered as Green Deal installers to access the new schemes. Green Deal installers are certified as meeting the standard PAS 2030 for the appropriate measures by a Green Deal accredited certification body.

The schemes may provide a significant business opportunity for many heating and renewable installers to gain work and competitive advantage over those outside the schemes. Businesses need to be properly equipped with GD certification, and ensure that installation teams are sufficient and properly trained. The Grant Aided Heating Installers Network (www.gainassociation.org.uk) is anticipating that installer members will benefit from the funding schemes.

The general public may approach GAIN members for further advice on heating and renewables measures.  The Grant Aided Heating Installers Network is at The Bothy, Albury Park, Albury, Guildford, Surrey GU5 9BH; e-mail: info@gainassociation.org.uk; www.gainassociation.org.uk.
