WILL INCENTIVES MOVE THE RENEWABLES MARKET?

President of Micropower Council, and DECC Participate in Second GAIN Conference

June 30, Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham

 Accompanying Exhibition Now Taking Bookings

Will incentives move the renewables market? This is the theme for the second national Conference and exhibition to be organised by the Grant Aided Heating Installers Network, to be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the National Motorcycle Museum, Coventry Road, Bickenhill, Solihull, West Midlands.

Renewables are becoming a cornerstone of the Government’s fuel poverty, and reduction of carbon emissions policies. The grants and incentives to move the market and today’s advanced technologies will be explored at this conference and its companion exhibition – now taking bookings. Major suppliers, showing heating boilers, controls and ancillary equipment; renewables, including photovoltaic and solar panels, ground source heat pumps etc; and insulation measures, have already booked for this well-rounded exhibition.

Baroness (Diana) Maddock, President of the Micropower Council, and earlier Liberal Democrat spokesperson on housing, is Keynote speaker. She has a particular interest in energy efficiency.

Jo Greasley, Head of Renewable Heat Incentive Team, Department of Energy and Climate Change, will provide the Government viewpoint and role in moving renewables.

The Conference will be Chaired by well-known former senior BBC weatherman, Bill Giles OBE, with some illuminating comments on forecasting climate change. Sponsors are eaga Plc (main sponsors) and Scottish Power Energy Retail Ltd.

Other speakers will be Steve Wilkinson, eaga Renewables, discussing their vision on renewables; Willie Kinnaird, Scottish Power Energy Retail Ltd, who will explain Feed-In-Tariffs; Rufus Logan, Director, BRE Scotland, who will describe renewable technologies; Andrew Loynd, Fylde Borough Council, who will relate their experience in installing ground source heat pumps and other renewables; Andy Stephenson, Chairman of the Carbon Action Network, who is based at Durham County Council,  will explain how local authorities work to install renewables; and Gudrun Cartwright, Prince’s Mayday Network, who will describe Business in the Community.

Registered Social Landlords and other specifiers, government agencies, energy suppliers, and the contracting and supplying industry for heating and renewables are invited to attend this well focussed conference and seminar. Places are free for specifiers including lunch and the diverse exhibition, and £52.88 (including VAT) per commercial delegate. There will be opportunities to consult the experts, as well as visit the famous Motorcycle Museum free of charge for all delegates.

The Grant Aided Heating Installers Network works with installers and suppliers of heating and renewable products to upgrade the professionalism of the industry serving the grants and wider market.
