PRESS RELEASE LFO/ldo/24.03.09
MOST 1/1
‘DELIVERING WARMTH TO THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST’
GAIN Conference and Exhibition, Newcastle, May 14
Vital issues such as safety, CO awareness, and fuel poverty are to be
debated in the conference and exhibition ‘delivering warmth to those who
need it most’, sponsored by the Grant Aided Heating Installers Network
(GAIN). Keeping up-to-date with renewables will also feature strongly in
the programme.
This one-day Conference will take place on Thursday, May 14, at the
Falcons Rugby Club, Newcastle. Main sponsor is eaga PLC.
The Rt. Hon Michael Jack, MP, Chairman of the Environment & Rural
Affairs Select Committee, will be keynote speaker for the Conference.
The Parliamentary Committee he chairs has recently been conducting an
inquiry into fuel poverty issues.
Chairing the Conference will be Scottish legend and veteran
international rugby player, George ‘Doddie’ Weir. During his career he
has won 61 Scottish caps and played for the famous Newcastle Falcons
Rugby Club – the venue for the Conference.
The Conference will span many key issues that concern registered
social landlords and the contracting industry delivering grants. Hayley
Peters, eaga PLC, will be updating delegates on Warm Front. Maria
Wardrobe, NEA, will discuss ‘eradicating fuel poverty - priorities for
action’.
In the afternoon, Tim Pollard, Head of Sustainability, Wolseley UK
Sustainable Building Center, will introduce delegates to the latest in
renewables and energy efficiency. Scott Carruthers, Core Skills
Training, takes up health and safety issues in the domestic market, with
input from Rebecca Sadler, eaga PLC. Adrian Keats, Honeywell Analytics,
emphasises CO awareness, and how the industry can work together to
promote this. Corporate social responsibility should promote much
interest, as the talk by Paul Cooper, Home Insulation Services (North
West) Ltd – and Chairman of GAIN. There will also be a special feature
entitled ‘renewable energy within schools’.
Alongside the Conference, there is ample time to view the exhibition,
already well supported by leading suppliers of boilers, controls and
ancillary equipment, energy efficiency products, and renewables. This
offers opportunities to discuss projects with the experts.
Specifiers may attend the Conference and exhibition free including
lunch. For commercial organisations there is a charge of £45 + VAT. The
programme may be downloaded from the GAIN website:
