The
Association’s first annual Awards for excellence were presented recently
to it’s members by Scottish legend and veteran international rugby
player, George ‘Doddie’ Weir, on behalf of the Grant Aided Heating
Installers Network (GAIN). The Association’s Chairman, Paul Cooper,
joined Doddie to explain the reasons for each Award.
Darfield Heating Services Ltd,
Darlington, was named as the ‘small company of the year’. The judging
panel was impressed with their diverse range of clients; solid
commitment to customer services; and that they had been recognised in
2008, at a national ceremony, as ‘best employer in the North East’.
The award for the ‘medium
company of the year’ went to Premier Energy Solutions, Hyde, Cheshire,
who had achieved many qualitative awards, culminating in them being
named Corgi Installer of the Year for 2009, whilst offering a good range
of products and services, including renewables.
Fenhams Ltd, Newcastle, were
named ‘large company of the year’ due to their commitment to training
and development, being recognised as an employee of excellence and a
large successful company.

the transition from cavity wall insulation technician to heating

The panel appreciated his nomination by an employee, and particularly
his dedication to the industry over many years. He was commended for his
commitment to establishing customer focussed core values.
The ‘special company achievement award’ went to a
partnership – eaga Warm Front, Newcastle; BCG Ltd, Stoke-on-Trent; and
Honeywell Controls Systems Ltd, Bracknell, Berks, for an innovative
