PRESS RELEASE

LFO/ldo/14.08.09                                                                                                                                              AWARDS 1/2

GAIN AWARDS IT'S MEMBERS

The Association’s first annual Awards for excellence were presented recently to it’s members by Scottish legend and veteran international rugby player, George ‘Doddie’ Weir, on behalf of the Grant Aided Heating Installers Network (GAIN). The Association’s Chairman, Paul Cooper, joined Doddie to explain the reasons for each Award.

Darfield Heating Services Ltd, Darlington, was named as the ‘small company of the year’. The judging panel was impressed with their diverse range of clients; solid commitment to customer services; and that they had been recognised in 2008, at a national ceremony, as ‘best employer in the North East’.

The award for the ‘medium company of the year’ went to Premier Energy Solutions, Hyde, Cheshire, who had achieved many qualitative awards, culminating in them being named Corgi Installer of the Year for 2009, whilst offering a good range of products and services, including renewables.

Fenhams Ltd, Newcastle, were named ‘large company of the year’ due to their commitment to training and development, being recognised as an employee of excellence and a large successful company.

Stuart Cameron of Darfield Heating Services, won the title ‘apprentice of the year’. He had previously gained a regional apprentice of the year award and was valued by his  employers as making a contribution to the company’s customer relations.

Glen Scott of Home Insulation Services (NW) Ltd, Preston, was named ‘employee of the year’ having made the transition from cavity wall insulation technician to  heating technician and subsequently being elected Employee Director by his colleagues.

The ‘special achievement award’ for an individual went to Gavin Ward, of Gavin Ward Ltd, Burnley, Lancs. The panel appreciated his nomination by an employee, and particularly his dedication to the industry over many years. He was commended for his commitment to establishing customer focussed core values.

The ‘special company achievement award’ went to a partnership – eaga Warm Front, Newcastle; BCG Ltd, Stoke-on-Trent; and Honeywell Controls Systems Ltd, Bracknell, Berks, for an innovative approach, which had required depth of collaboration in producing an instructive and interactive DVD. This is intended to benefit the end user, for operational and behavioural change to aid comfort control and energy efficiency. It required total involvement across the supply chain.

Eaga Partnership Ltd, were named as the ‘best supporting organisation’.  They had given GAIN their total support right from the start, this support being maintained and enhanced over many years, and their keenness to utilise GAIN for further business development opportunities was appreciated.

The Grant Aided Heating Installers Network represents professional heating installers and suppliers to the grant market. It looks for good technical and professional standards from its members with qualitative awards amongst the criteria.
